About the Event
In Welcoming the Stranger, Motus Theater’s undocumented monologists invite you to step into their shoes. Their monologues interrupt dehumanizing and racist, anti-immigrant narratives. Two monologues will be read by special guest readers: Reverend Ben Konecny, from the First Congregational Church UCC, and Reverend Zachary Martinez, from Sojourn Mennonite Church. Each monologue is followed by a musical response from Uruguayan guitar soloist Elisa Garcia.
This performance is part of Motus Theater’s Welcoming the Stranger series - a collaboration with faith leaders who express moral courage and civic hospitality as they read aloud the story of an undocumented person and reflect both personally and theologically on seeing the world through the eyes of an immigrant.
Sponsored by Sojourn Mennonite Church and the First Congregational Church UCC.
Autobiographical monologues by Motus UndocuMonologists Tania Chairez and Cristian Solano Cordova written in collaboration with Motus Theater Artistic Director, Kirsten Wilson. Performance presented by Motus Theater - creators of UndocuAmerica, Women of Resolution, Rocks Karma Arrows, and the Shoebox Stories Podcast.
