December 22, 2019 Fourth Sunday of Advent Music Sunday Worship @ 8:00 & 10:00

This Sunday during the 10:00 worship, our Chancel Choir, under the direction of Joseph Noelliste, will present several Christmas musical works. They range from very familiar to contemporary, including one composed by our director. The choir will be accompanied by piano, organ and orchestra.

During the 8:00 worship, Rev. Ben Konecny will offer a reflection on Matthew 11: 2-15.

While the air is abuzz around us with Christmas expectation, in less than a week, some people may find themselves feeling a bit let down. Christmas will be over by then. Presents unwrapped. Food eaten. The pre-Christmas "Fa-la-Las" turned into post-Christmas "blahs."

As those who are awaiting the birth of Christ, we may experience a deeper disappointment after Christmas than just not receiving the gifts we wanted. We may look at the situations we find ourselves in and the big issues affecting the world around us and wonder, "What real impact does the Incarnation have?"

In our scripture reading for worship, John the Baptist has a similar concern cross his mind. As we prepare for Christmas on this fourth Sunday of Advent, we will consider how the way and witness of Jesus doesn't always align with our expectations of God's presence in our lives and the world--and why this may in fact be really Good News!

Come join us!
